The east coast is a desert when it comes to female rock climbers. I’ve been here for two years and a simple gym sesh sometimes feels like a 1970s women’s lib hour. Like Gloria Steinem’s face should be ironed on to my chalkbag or something. Usually, I’m the only chick in the gym who’s climbed more than once. And the truth is, I need a role model.  Self motivation is key but it’s not everything. And the longer I climb, the more I appreciate climbing with women. There’s nothing more motivating than girls who crush. That’s why I was super psyched/honored to photograph and interview Sasha DiGiulian for Urban Climber. Read the story here.
