Obama pardons “Courage” at the White House

Nov. 25, 2009-President Barack Obama with daughters Malia and Sasha, as he pardoned "Courage", the 45-pound National Thanksgiving Turkey, on the North Portico at the White House, Washington, D.C. With Obama are Elizabeth Pelletier and Walter Pelletier, from the National Turkey Federation.

This morning, President Barack Obama pardoned “Courage“, the 45-pound National Thanksgiving Turkey, on the steps of the White House. Flanked by daughters Malia and Sasha, Obama made a quick speech about the history of the tradition, Walter Pelletier of the National Turkey Federation hoisted Courage onto the green tablecloth, and Obama pardoned the giant white turkey. Following this trip to the White House, Courage will live out the rest his days in Disneyland.
